Deep House Destinations
Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in1989 techno was the soundtrack of reunification. Decades later the German capital has changed so much, but its deep ties to dance music remain strong, with it rated as the city to be in to follow a career in dance music above some all overs in the European continent. These days it remains Europe's techno headquarters, with thousands of people flocking to its clubs every weekend. But over the years the city has spawned many more sounds, sub-genres and a plethora of quality DJs, producers and record labels.
Berlin Record Labels
It’s long been true that Berlin is the epicentre of record labels and indeed record stores the city has a wealth of stores for the avid crate digger. AS with any city with such a heritage in music there’s every kind of genre covered in Berlin and many labels that most house music fans would have heard of, even if their catalogues aren’t your taste.
My personal picks (below) cover a more ‘house’ vibe, but there’s a dash of harder sounds to enjoy from Berlin with the likes of OFF Recordings, Dirt Crew Recordings, Jonas Saalbach’s Radikon and Nadja Lind’s Lucidflow imprint - and who could forgot Anja Schneider and Ralf Kollmann label Mobilee Records!?
Labels such as EKORD, Ritter Butzke Studio, K7 Music, Sonar Kollektiv, Innervisions, Suol, ReKids have well respected names and solid back catalogues well worth checking out.
Soundcloud is also Berlin based - the one-time darling of DJ’s and Ableton - the producers best friend!

Berlin Artists
There’s not many cities in the world that can boast such an incredible pool of talent - perhaps only rivalled by Johannesburg, London and Cape Town in terms of current influence. Whatever your taste in house, Berlin has plenty to enjoy. From the harder techno sounds of Andre Cromm, Jonas Saalbach and co, to the funky house of Berobreo, Nhan Solo and the likes all the way to the jazzy styles of Jazzanova and Frag Maddin.
