Boddhi Satva

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life

Regarded as the father of Ancestral Soul and hailing from the Central African Republic, Boddhi Satva is a DJ/Producer that has not only changedthe way people perceive dance music, but the way they experience it too. His music has been releases on a who’s who of labels, from BBE Records, Vega, Seasons, Yoruba and more.

He is seen as a protégé to Grammy winning Lil Louie Vega (Masters at Work), who was on board as the Executive Producer of Boddhi’s album Invocation, released in 2012. The BBE-release debut was celebrated all over the world by many, including the global tastemaker Gilles Peterson.

His Ancestral Soul signature sound, like many South African movements, has a very spiritual sense to it, deep and soulful house with an organic edge, blending with, as Boddhi puts it..

“When music is the soundtrack of universal rituals – birth, graduation, marriage, and ancestorship, that’s Ancestral Soul; when music is simultaneously an tense argument between passionate lovers, a intense freestyle session between- or a revolutionary political speech by live instruments – kora, piano, sax, flute, congas, cello, balafon and turntables, that’s Ancestral Soul; when music takes over the night, positive energy is in the air and the mysteries of the unseen come out, that’s Ancestral Soul; when music conquers spirits, electrifies bodies and no word is needed to seduce, to serenade, to heal, to love and to share, that’s Ancestral Soul; when deep house music has modern Congolese rumba as wife, West African voices as mistresses, and urban R&B and Afro-Cuban rhythms as occasional girlfriends, that’s Ancestral Soul.”

In 2007 Boddhi launched his own Offering Records allowing him creative freedom to push boundaries with innovative formulas and where promising singers and a place aspiring producers from around the world find a launching pad.
