Canada

Deep House Destinations

Canada boasts depth and breadth of house music across its vast expanses. Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver could all warrant a destination of their own, and in time maybe this category will expand like that. Toronto lays claim to being the heart of house music in the country, having morphed into the largest city over the last 30 years or so. Indeed huge international names like DJ Sneak live there (having relocated from Chicago).

As you’d imagine with a vast country with so many influences making it what it is, Canada has a truly vibrant community of producers and a healthy crop of labels that many will be very familiar with. The headliners of which would be names like Fred Everything, DJ Sneak, Nick Holder, Jay Tripwire, BiG AL, Nordic Trax and more.

Canadian Record Labels

Surprisingly, Canada doesn’t have as many labels as I expected it would have. Although what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for in quality. Fred Everything’s label Lazy Days Recordings, BiG AL’s Ready Mix Records and of course the mighty Nordic Trax come to mind instantly. Other labels such as Gemini Wax Records, Purveyor Underground and RF Recordings are also well worth checking out.

Canadian Deep House Producers

There’s something for everyone across Canada’s music scenes, from harder house, to Eastern influences and plenty of big room class. Fred Everythings, BiG AL, Jon Delerious, Nick Holder, DJ Sneak, Jojo Flores, My Favourite Robot, Demuir and the likes making a seriously good playlist for anyone. Names like Deep Spelle (originally from Vancouver but now France based) and Jeff Fontaine will also be familiar to UM Records fans - and the list goes on… Saisons Musique, Akufen, Gab Rhome, Vincent Caira, Andy Reid, Sean Miller, Daniel Dubb… the list goes on.
