Low Steppa

Last Night a DJ Saved My Life

Low Steppa from Birmingham, UK is a Dj/producer - a name I’ve come across more as a remixer on Defected than anything else until now. His bootleg of Route 94’s ‘My Love’ kick started his profile with over 1.4 million plays on YouTube in 2003 and 2.2 million plays on Soundcloud.

Along the way he’s received huge support from Radio 1 DJ’s Mistajam, Target, Cameo and B Traits as well as Pete Tong, Gorgon City and Shadow Child. The versatile talent, Low Steppa, has gone from strength to strength with his latest single ‘So Real’ released in June 2015 on Universal’s premiere dance imprint label, All Around The World Records which reached number 1 in the music week dance charts.

Alongside his heavy DJ schedule and releases, Low Steppa operates his own label by the name of Simma Black, nurturing new talent. The 100th release on the label was ‘Karma’, a record he produced with acclaimed singer/songwriter Alex Mills on vocals, and one that lead to both label of the month and an artist of the month awards from Beatport in summer 2017.

He has performed at landmark gigs including Radio 1’s Big Weekend Opening Party and EDC Las Vegas. However it is his links to Defected that has really stepped his profile up a gear. In 2017 alone he performed at seven of the Defected In The House Ibiza residencies at Eden, with his back-to-back sets alongside Sonny Fodera among the most celebrated of the season.
