Tom Szirtes aka Shur-i-kan hails from London, UK and boasts a career spanning over a decade and ranks amongst the global big hitters in the deep house world. He’s often featured on respected labels the world over, but most notably Freerange Records, where he has a key artist in the development of Jimpsters' beloved label and is also co-owner Dark Energy Recordings along with Milton Jackson.

 

Shur-i-kan is an accomplished keyboard player who cut his teeth working in various bands in London and long time contributor to improvisational dance super group The Bays. Shur-i-kan's distinctive productions ooze musicality and emotion that has captured the hearts of his many admirers including music legends Kenny Dope, Tom Middleton, Larry Heard, Joey Negro and Ashley Beedle.

 

His relationship with Freerange dates back to 2001 covering two studio albums and a string of classic house EPs that include Living Inside, I Want It, Future Fantasy and One Night In Tokyo.

 

With well over 50 releases and remixes to his discography - his productions have been in constant demand by top dance labels such as Anjunadeep, Simple, Systematic, Z Records, Defected and Lazy Days to name a few.

 

Representing the deeper side of house, Tom's acclaimed productions are consistently in heavy demand having remixed the likes of Akabu, Trackheadz, Miguel Migs, Robert Babicz, Fred Everything amongst others. He is also well known for his numerous collaborations with Glasgow house legend Milton Jackson and their label Dark Energy has released artists such as Ian Pooley, M.A.N.I.K. and Tom Middleton.
