Soul Candi is frequently referred to as the most influential labels in South Africa. Founded in 2001 as a record shop in vinyl DJing’s heyday, and it was where like-minded DJs from across the country would converge to hear and buy the latest, tastiest house tracks.

The store became a focal point for house proponents of the caliber of DJ Fresh, Oskido, Euphonik and many more. As house musics popularity grew in the country Soul Candi started making the most popular tunes available to everybody via their range of cool compilation CDs. Charles Webster, Da Capo, Chymamusique, Kid Fonque, Atjazz, Jonny Miller, and many more have been part of the story with Kid Fonque running A&R for some time before going on to open Stay True Sounds. The label closed in 2015.
