The story so far...
Founded by Richie Hartness in 1996, UM started as a humble folder named after the default folder on their work computer. From a printed fanzine distributed secretly in the dead of night to UK's top vinyl record stores with the support of renowned deep house labels and individuals, UM quickly grew from print to new music podcasts, websites, and social media. In 2011, UM Records was born with a vision to become a launchpad for aspiring producers, propelling them to success on bigger labels worldwide, while fostering a community of passionate deep house fans.
Since 2016, UM Records has been operating on a not-for-profit basis, reflecting the challenging nature of the music business. This unique approach allows UM Records to be solely focused on creativity and music, without the pressure of profits.
