New York's house music scene has always been at the forefront of the scene thanks to legends like Larry Levan and his mythical Paradise Garage club and Francois K despite being better know for it Hip Hop heritage globally. Today it boasts some of the best know imprints and producers the world has to offer along with a quality underground community of deeper house producers, Djs and record labels.

 

New York Record Labels

Like other significant house music and specifically deep house cities it boasts a list of labels to make you swoon. Many of which have been instrument in shaping the sound over the years.

Francois K’s Wave music was such an amazing label. Whilst labels such as Def Jam and Bluenote call NYC their home. King Street Sounds and sub-label Nite Grooves, MAW Records, Nervous Records, Strictly Rhythm and iRecordings are house music royalty to many long time house followers.

Like the record labels of New York, the house music producer community is also a bit of a who’s who of house. Masters At Work, aka Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzales and Little ‘Louie’ Vega all call NYC home, as do Todd Terry, Blaze, Satoshi Tomiie, Honey Dijon and Roy Davis Jr - some line up! Newer names such as Oscar P, Doug Gomez and Joeski are forging a new era for the city.
